Third Space Theory

'In sociology, the third place refers to the social surroundings that are separate from the two usual social environments of home, the first place, and the workplace, the second place. I like the idea of the third space theory as it allows people to communicate outside their workplace and home.

Many disciplines are mainly concerned with place, Geography is one of the disciplines that use place as their foundation. The study of space only began in the 1980s, however, reached a great number of people in 1990. (Relph, 2008)

Studying architecture in the light of social science, I understand how social science produces a research-based design rather that a biased design, based on personal opinion. The fact that it's research-based allows the design to be more unique to users of the potential design.
